Children in Need mascot Pudsey Bear spent three days under the care of Harrogate’s collaborative family law group last week as part of a Brighter Future initiative taking place across the North of England to raise awareness of the collaborative law process.
Pudsey visited northern towns and cities at the forefront of this relatively new approach to divorce and separation, including Sheffield, York, Newcastle and Harrogate.
He travelled by DX and lawyers in each location were asked to photograph him at their most iconic local landmark.
Members of the Harrogate Collaborative Law pod gathered at the famous Victorian Turkish Baths to mark Pudsey’s stay in the town.
Stephen Root, who chairs the Harrogate pod and sits on the Northern Raising Awareness Team committee, said the ethos of Children in Need fitted perfectly with the principles behind collaborative law, which aims to minimise conflict and reduce the impact of divorce on children.
“Collaborative law is a round table approach that seeks a solution to best meet the needs of everyone involved in divorce and has a particularly important role to play for families with children,” explained Mr Root, who heads up the family law team at Berwins Solicitors.
Pudsey Bear will ended his journey at the Northern Lights Conference for collaborative lawyers in Leeds on October 7.
As part of the awareness initiative each collaborative law group will be donating money to Children in Need which this year is on November 18.
