Michaela Heathcote

Michaela, head of the Family Law Team at Taylor & Emmet jointed the Firm as a Trainee in 1989 after studying Law at Hull University and Chester School of Law. She became a Partner in 1999.

Michaela is an Accredited Resolution Family Law Specialist who also sits on the National Specialist Accreditation Scheme Management Committee and has been appointed as an Examiner for the Scheme.

At a local level Michaela is Treasurer of South Yorkshire Regional Resolution and was one of the first two Lawyers in Sheffield to qualify as a Collaborative Lawyer in 2005.

In her spare time Michaela enjoys spending time with her son, travelling and taking Samba and Zumba classes. She enjoys socialising with friends, particularly if that includes eating Pasta and drinking the odd glass of wine!

Having qualified as a Collaborative Lawyer Michaela rapidly realised that working collaboratively was by far the best way of helping people deal with the legal and practical aspect of the breakdown of their relationships. She is often heard explaining that she sees it as a very positive way of dealing with a negative situation and she actively encourages all clients to consider collaboration first and it is her genuine hope and belief that collaboration should become the first port of call for all couples who are separating.
