We’re pleased to be able to report that the number of collaborative lawyers in the UK has risen yet again, according to recently released figures. When collaborative family law was introduced from the United States in 2003, there were just 3 family lawyers using the collaborative approach in the United Kingdom. This figure has grown to more than 1,400 in England and Wales today.
Statistics from the family lawyers’ group Resolution, of which Dovetail are members, show that the number of cases Resolution members have dealt with has grown by an astonishing 87%, with an impressive settlement rate of 85%.
These figures go to show just how successful the collaborative approach is proving to be in resolving family disputes. Many family lawyers, including those who may have acted in high-profile, high-net-worth cases, are increasingly looking for an alternative to the adversarial approach they may have used in the past.
